Seventy years of reign for Queen Elizabeth II: the Queen of England will celebrate her platinum jubilee in London for three days starting June 2, an event that will also be celebrated in other Commonwealth countries. Elizabeth II was crowned at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953, but took office on February 6, 1952, after the death of her father, King George VI.
Since September 9, 2015, the Queen of England has been the British monarch with the longest reign ever. But before she became queen, Elizabeth II was simply the Princess of Windsor. We take a look back at some snapshots of the ruler from before she was crowned queen.

In 1933, Princess Elizabeth was seven years old and playing with a doll lying in a baby carriage. The photo was taken in front of a miniature house donated by the people of Wales in the park of the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
