Eco-friendly bathroom collection made of new material by Woodio
If you think of "bathroom furnishings made from tree trunks" as a rustic, country board shack, you're barking up the wrong tree. Finnish eco-design company Woodio wants to revolutionize bathroom design with its products and has reinvented wood to do so. Its material innovation is waterproof and thus ideally suited for wet areas. The composite material consists of about 80 percent real wood chips - and resins. It is not only the raw materials, which grow in domestic forests and do not have a long way to travel to the Woodio factory in Helsinki, that are designed with sustainability in mind. The entire manufacturing process conserves resources and is virtually climate-neutral.
Typically Nordic
The new Woodio material is used to make sanitary products and accessories whose simple, elegant, timeless design is typically Nordic. The collection Core of the young Finnish label includes 17 different washbasin models, freestanding bathtubs, wall-hung WCs and decorative wall hooks that can also serve as knobs for cabinet doors or drawers. There are three colors to choose from: the light natural shade Natural Aspen made of undyed aspen wood, the slightly silvery white shade Polar and Char, a dark shade between anthracite and black with a touch of smoky blue.
Homely material
There are wall-hung washbasins, countertop washbasins and built-in washbasins, with the angular versions named Cube, the rounded versions called Soft and the built-in models called Unit. The Woodio material looks warm and homely, the wood chips give it an interesting, lively texture. The material is impact-resistant, virtually unbreakable, and its stain-resistant coating also makes it easy to clean. The durability of the products is also one of the sustainability criteria. With its innovative composite material made of wood and resin, Woodio wants to compete with the traditional bathroom material ceramic. At the same time, the Finns are concerned with reducing the bathroom industry's carbon footprint and making their own contribution to climate protection. sh
