Advertising | Durability is one of the criteria when each of us decides to buy a new piece of furniture. This is where the wheat is separated from the chaff early on, as many favorites fall through the cracks. This is accompanied by the selection and processing of the materials used. The task was to find a bed that sustainably combines quality and stylish design. With the bed Veng of Re Beds Urbanara Edition we have found exactly such a variant.

The bed Veng is the result of the collaboration between Urbanara and the Danish label Re Beds. It was designed by Oliver & Lukas WeissKrogh with a high headboard for extra comfort. The simple design provides an aesthetic look and the also so important visual tranquility in the bedroom. Or, as in our case, as a new island of calm in Justus' room. A conscious decision for a piece of furniture that lasts and accompanies transitions in all phases of life. High-quality Belgian linen and Danish oak wood combine here to create a harmonious interplay and blend seamlessly into the existing room design. In Danish design tradition, the Veng bed is handmade to order. Characterized by the natural wood, each version has its own unique character.

The bed frame is made of Nordic oak wood, which comes from FSC certified and renewable forests. Thus, no more wood is processed than the natural forest growth allows. The demand for sustainability and naturalness is also found in the upholstery made of hand-picked organic cotton, for which neither chemical fertilizers and additives nor intensive irrigation are used - this is also attested by the GOTS certificate. The fast-growing flax comes from Belgium, from the region between Bruges and the French border, and is ready for harvesting as early as July after sowing in March. The flax is then dried, spun and woven before taking its place as linen in the Veng bed in Søhøjlandet, Denmark, using traditional handwork.

Kapok fiber - Natural filling material

Kapok-Kopfkissen Kamno

Kapok-Bettdecke Duo Malna

The frame is decided, nevertheless that is after all only half the battle for a sustainable sleep. Which bedding is actually suitable - good and healthy? Kapok is a wonderfully soft and completely natural fiber that grows in large capsules on the kapok tree in Africa and Asia. Dried by the sun alone, the fiber is then removed from the capsule, cleaned with compressed air and can then be used as a filling material without any other additives. Due to its naturalness, kapok fiber is also excellent for allergy sufferers. Pillow Kamno and comforter Malna have thus become it. Kamno has a quilted slipcover, which is made of a mix of organic cotton and kapok, can be opened by zipper and thus separated from the inner pillow and washed at 60 °C. Inside the slipcover hides the actual pillow. Malna consists of two comforters - a lighter summer comforter and a thicker comforter, which are tied together with loops. Both blankets are made of untreated organic cotton and then filled differently: The inside of the summer comforter is also 100% organic cotton, while the thicker comforter is filled with a blend of 70% organic cotton and 30% natural kapok.

The cover of the inner pillow is made of 100% organic cotton and filled with natural kapok fibers. If necessary, some of them can be removed and thus adjust the volume of the pillow itself. The lighter summer blanket is GOTS certified...

The cover of the inner pillow is made of 100% organic cotton and filled with natural kapok fibers. If necessary, some of them can be removed and thus adjust the volume of the pillow itself. The lighter summer comforter is GOTS certified, has a warmth rating of 1 and at only 300 g/m² is the ideal sleeping partner for the warmer months. The other Malna comforter is particularly well suited for the transitional season with a 450 g/m² filling. For the cold winter nights, both quilts can then be combined with each other.

Kamno is pleasantly voluminous, but - similar to memory foam - adapts excellently to the head and is therefore also well suited for back and side sleepers.
